Intro: This a strong theme and the books have some ‘mini – missions’ which I think we could spread over 4 weeks rather than the usual 2. This will help us emphasise the main teaching as each week we can look at a general aspect of the bible & then cover the mini missions & application in our groups. We’re going to use these books as a basis & send them home afterwards for those in G Force and Voyagers but as the theme is going to spread over 2 months, we won’t use them loads in the actual session.
Memory Verse for both sessions: “God’s word is alive and working. It is sharper than a sword sharpened on both sides” Hebrews 4:12

Group Activity Ideas: Mini Mission 1 and 2 – (p.17 – 20)
This is basically looking at 2 promises – Romans 8 38-39 and John 3:16. In G force & voyagers they could work through the ‘mission sheets’ i.e. bible passage with questions (we have kids bibles available) and then make something which helps them remember the promise(s). In Explorers a simple version and some sort of ‘promise keeper’ would be more appropriate.

Group Activity Ideas: DZ Prayer Wall. I thought that we could make a big DZ prayer wall and everyone could decorate it – suggest they draw round their hands & decorate them – maybe each leader could bring some appropriate verses for them to copy out/stick on. We could then decorate the board with everyone’s hands. The older ones could take photos of everyone to print the out & stick on too (I’ll bring the camera). The younger ones could make another version to take home (mounting a hand on paper/card) and everyone could write/draw a please prayer which we could then stick on & pray for…

We didn’t get time to plan this but I have some suggestions for prayer games.
Flap a fish – write prayers on a paper fish. Use a newspaper to flap it. As each person finishes the group prays for their request.
Paper Planes – write prayers on planes. Throw around, then others pick up, unfold and pray the requests…
Charades – act out prayer needs silently. When guessed, all pray.
Also, for older ones, puzzles in the prayer book – which we will give out after… (Little ones – activity sheet to do/give out)
